Frigate ESSEX, armed with 32 cannons, was built in Salem, Essex County, Massasuchetts, by Enos Briggs according to a project by W.Hackett, paid with the money collected from the citizens of the Essex County. The ship was built in about six months' work and finally launched on September 30 1799.
Frigate ESSEX belonged to the United States Navy and fought with success against the English ships. In 1814 it was captured by the English in Valparaiso (Chile) and changed into a 46-gun frigate for the use of the English Navy.
This is a cross section of the boat that I am building in Rose Wood. I will add a few more photo's as finish off this model.
